What it does:
The AWE SwitchPath™ Remote and accompanying control box overrides the factory valving to allow the exhaust valves, whether it be on the AWE SwitchPath™ Exhaust or the stock exhaust, to be opened or closed manually via the SwitchPath™ Remote.
How to operate:
With the AWE SwitchPath™ Controller installed, the exhaust valves can be opened by pressing the “On” button found on the left side of the SwitchPath™ Remote. To close the exhaust valves simply press the “Off” button on the right side of the remote.
What’s in the box:
The AWE SwitchPath™ Remote comes complete as a kit with two remotes, two mounting brackets, the SwitchPath™ Controller, one AWE Valve Simulator, and easy to follow instructions.
Why would I need this if my car already opens and closes the valves?
The AWE SwitchPath Remote will override your factory valve settings. So in other words, sometimes you want it loud when the car wants to be quiet, and vice versa. Once installed, you are now in control of the valve position all the time, manually. The only time the valve position will change “on its own” is about an hour after you shut the car off - when the valves will close, so that startup is a bit quieter.
What does each button do?
The “on” button means it’s game on. It will open the valves and keep them open. The “off” button will close the valves and keep them closed. Keep in mind, open throttle with valves closed is NOT recommended as it will create unwanted back pressure and could damage the motor.
What happens when I turn the car off?
The only time the valve position will change “on its own” is about an hour after you shut the car off - when the valves will close, so that startup is a bit quieter. Don’t worry, if you don’t like your neighbors you can still press the “On” button as soon as you start the car.
Will this work with my factory exhaust?
In many cases, yes. But the vehicles we’ve confirmed for this to work on are listed below in “this fits.” If you have a hypothesis that this might work on your car, hit us up with the “Ask an expert” above!
What modifications do I need to do to make this work?
If your vehicle is listed in “This Fits” below, there will be no mods needed. Just follow the instructions and you’re off to the races.
What if my vehicle is not listed in the “this fits” area below?
At this point we can only verify that the AWE SwitchPath Remote will work on vehicles listed in “This Fits.”
If I have the valve closed (off) and floor it, what happens?
Don’t do that. Just don’t do that. Going hard throttle with the valves closed can result in unwanted back pressure - and that’s a bad thing. You’ve been warned.
How does this product interact with my factory valve settings?
The AWE SwitchPath Remote overrides whatever your ECU is telling your valves to do. You want ‘em open? Press “on.” Closed? Press “off.” This product completely bypasses the factory valving signals. You’re now in control.
Do I need any other hardware or software to make this open and close my valves on demand?
You don’t! If your car is on “This Fits” below, there is no additional hardware needed. Just follow the instructions that are included.
